"Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen".
Brené Brown

I'm Meagan Marino. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California, a Registered Art Therapist, and certified in perinatal mental health.
Welcome to your first steps towards growth! I am here to help explore your way of being in the world. You may be seeking understanding of your past, how to cope with current stressors, move through a new life stage, or to improve your relationships. You have it in you, and I can introduce new skills, awareness, and meaning to your life.
As a mother myself, I am leaning into supporting mental health and wellness for new or expecting parents. I'm here to walk with you through preparing for and living through both the joys and struggles.
I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy Specializing in Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University. I use artmaking in therapy when clients would like to learn more about themselves or to deepen their emotional experience.
Services

Individuals
In individual sessions, I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to create goals. You may be looking for strategies or a deeper understanding of past relationships and patterns that shape your life. I also use principles from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Theory, Narrative Theory, and Positive Psychology. I work with teens and adults.
Families & Couples
Do you find yourself often struggling with the kids or your partner? Have you been sensing distance between family members? Or you just don't seem to understand your teen's emotions. Therapy can help with improving effective communication and rebuilding relationships.
I am also here to support through pregnancy and postpartum changes and challenges!
Art Therapy
Artmaking can provide deeper exploration into ourselves and our relationships to others and the world. You do not need to be "good" at art to gain understanding from its process. Individuals of all ages and families can use art therapy as a means of connection, problem-solving, and expressing feelings which words cannot always describe.

What to Expect
You can expect a warm, empathetic, and patient person to support you. We will set goals together to focus on areas of relationships, depression, anxiety, grief, coping, communication, life review, and growth. Expect to laugh at times! We can set a timeline according to your pace. Sessions typically last fifty minutes.
If you choose to utilize art therapy, you will have the opportunity to reflect and explore through painting, drawing, and collage to name a few. Artmaking is usually followed by discussion and processing. I will not "interpret" your art, but rather use curiosity with you to find meaning, and at times to discover thoughts and feelings that lie below our conscious awareness.
